Fiber Optic Link

The  Fiber Optic Link is intended to be installed in the communications line of your Pyott-Boone Monitoring System.  The Fiber Optic Link provides isolation from the surface to the underground system.  The Model 1751 communicates to 320 BAUD systems.  The Model 1760 communicates to 4800  BAUD systems.  Each model consists of two parts.  The data traveling between these two units passes through a Fiber Optic Cable, insulating the two boxes electrically from each other. 

When installed properly, the Fiber Optic Link will improve the reliability of the monitoring system.  These units will prevent lightning, ground loops and other transient voltages that are detrimental to equipment from being wide spread on the monitoring system.  The Fiber Optic Link is not intended to replace the lightning arrestor which is required on all lines entering the mines.  Because ground loops sometimes occur between operating sections within a coal mine, Pyott-Boone also recommends installation of fiber links underground.  This will prevent stray voltages or currents from traveling the data line and damaging the equipment on other sections.

The computer side  is 120 VAC powered if connected to an AC standby power supply.   The underground side is designed to be powered by the Model 1905 UPS or the 12 VDC output of a nearby Belt Boss.  When these units are powered with AC, they must not be powered from a local common AC source.  The Model 1751 can be powered by DC voltage.

Both models are housed in a nonmetallic high impact molded material with hinged covers.  The enclosure is rated NEMA 1-3-3S-4-4X-12-13 for indoor/outdoor applications. Overall outside dimensions including mounting bracket 11 1/2 H x 7 3/4 W x 4 3/8 D.

Standard length of fiber cable between the A & B units is either 3 feet or 10 feet.  Any length can be special ordered up to 120 feet.
