Cable Monitor

The Model 495 Cage Cable Monitor consists of a wireless tag that will be mounted in close proximity to a switch which will detect slack in a hoist cable, opening the switch.  This switch needs to provide a closed circuit when the cable is taut.  When the wireless tag detects the switch opening the tag it sends a signal to the receiver to open the relay contacts which will be wired into the control circuit thus stopping the hoist.  There is an approximate 3 second delay after the switch opens before the signal is sent to the receiver.  There are three relays in the receiver.  The above describes the control circuit relay which is terminals 1 & 2 on the terminal strip. The terminal strip is numbered from left to right with number 1 being on the extreme left.  Number 3 & 4 terminals are provided to give a remote monitoring signal for a low battery condition in the tag.  Terminals number 5 & 6 are closed when there is AC power to the control unit.  These terminals can be used at a remote site as an indication the tag is sending a signal and the receiver is detecting that signal.

LEDs on the front cover of the unit provide status of the above mentioned relays and provides an indication   the receiver is receiving signals from the tag.  The tag cannot be installed inside of a metal enclosure.

The receiver should be installed out of the weather.  If installing inside a metal building the receiver must be close to an opening or window to insure it receives a clear path to the tag installation point.  120VAC power is required for the receiver.   Tag battery life should be 2 years, however, the battery is not replaceable.  A switch is provided for testing purposes on the tag, push and hold for testing.
